Bathroom Renovation, Highgate

A full renovation of the principal bathroom in a four-bedroom Edwardian semi-detached house in Highgate, creating a wet room shower enclosure, freestanding bath, double vanity, and full Porcelanosa ceramic tiling. The project was completed in 4 weeks.

Project Type

Bathroom Renovation

Duration

4 weeks

Project Value

£28,000

The Challenge

The existing bathroom had a timber suspended floor that was inadequate for a wet room — conventional wet room construction requires a tanked and graded solid floor. The existing waste pipe was incorrectly graded, causing slow drainage throughout the property. The bathroom window was a fixed non-opening sash that left the room poorly ventilated and prone to condensation.

Our Solution

The timber floor was replaced with a reinforced concrete screed to the correct wet room falls, properly tanked with a Wedi shower tray former set into the screed. The waste pipes were re-run with correct falls throughout. The fixed sash was replaced with an opening sash in matching timber profile. An extractor fan with humidity sensor was installed within the window reveal.
