The Challenge
The property is Grade II listed, requiring Listed Building Consent for any new wiring routes that would necessitate chasing into walls. The client required the installation to be as invisible as possible — no surface conduit, no visible cable routes. The property's original Georgian wall construction (solid brick) made concealed cable routing significantly more challenging than a modern property.
Our Solution
We obtained Listed Building Consent from Westminster for the installation. Cable routing was achieved through an innovative combination of: existing service voids, behind architraves and skirting boards (removed and reinstated sympathetically), through floor voids, and using micro-trunking painted to match the walls in the small number of locations where chasing was not possible. All works were carefully documented for the listed building file.
